Ocean Athletes excel at Canadian Legion Championships

Congratulations to our Ocean Athletes at the 2010 Canadian Legion Championships in Ottawa. The BC Team Head Coach Ian Cameron said “The atmosphere is electric with personal, club and provincial pride on the line.  The support and encouragement of team-mates plus being so well prepared by their personal coaches made for some exceptional performances and outstanding results.”

Leading off the BC / Ocean team was Meghan Palesch with a gold medal in the 200m hurdles, a 4th place in the 80m hurdles (the final had to be rerun due to one flight of hurdles being too high!  Well done Meghan for an excellent performance under difficult conditions) and 2 silver medals in the 4x100 and medley relays.

Competing along with Meghan in the U16 division were Alison Williams (silver medal 800m 2:16.95, 4^th 300m 41.29, silver in the medley relay), and Max Hanna (silver medal javelin  48.35, silver medal 4x100).

In the U18 category, Vanessa Sjoberg picked up a silver in the 400m (57.09), and Jake Bruchet a 4^th in the steeplechase 6:09.39.

Competing for Ocean Athletics, Peggy Noel turned in an outstanding performance and seasonal best in the 1500m in a time of 4:45.76.
