Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 06:52PM Danielle Steer (12) lead the way with 5 individual Gold (200m, 300m, 800m, 1200m 200mH), 1 Silver (relay) and 1 Bronze (80mH) at the 2011 Junior Development Championships with several results in BC's all time top ten. A little jetlag didn't bother Cayla Smith (10) as she won Gold in 600m and 1000m as well as Bronze in both the 60m and 100m events. Hot dry weather resulted in several Ocean athletes being hampered by blisters but it didn't slow them down. Raquel Pinto (12) won Silver in the 100m and Bronze in the long jump.
Rori Denness (10) won Gold for her Javelin event, Gold in Discus and Bronze in 800m Racewalk. Raegan Saint-Onge (10) picked up Bronze in High Jump to match Jolden Boparai's (13) Bronze in the 2000m event. Aaryanna Kurucz (11) won Silver in her 80mH event before being forced to retire with a hip flexor injury.
New member, Bryan Niwinski to Ocean Athletics impressed his coaches with a very close 4th place in 100m and a Bronze in the long jump.
Silver medal was awarded to our 4x100m relay team (12s) of Danielle Steer, Hope Steeves, Brooke Trainor and Raquel Pinto.
A very special thanks to Michael Butler who made the trek to Kamloops to be our club's volunteer help at the meet so that Coaches and parents were free. Michael is pursuing his officials certification levels and is now certified at level 2 and working on level 3.
Full Ocean Athletics filtered results can be viewed here, full overall results will be available on the Kamloops Track & Field Club's website shortly.
