BC JD Championships Summary

Congratulations to our JD athletes who recently returned from the provincial championships in Kamloops.  Smokey skies, mid 30 temperatures and little shade made for a tough weekend for everyone.

Despite the conditions, 3 sprinters returned with all time top 10 performances.  Raquel Pinto (twice) Landon Gill and Jad Duncson all broke into the prestigious top ten rankings for BC in their respective sprint events.

JD Training schedule change


Monday, August 2 - no practice
Thursday, August 5 - end of season practice
 
***  14+ athletes are invited to come and help with our end of season session for the JD's.  Please let Maureen know if you are coming.  Regular 6-7:30 practice time.

JD Training resumes Thursday August 26th 6pm at the track.  We begin cross country season but we will of course have a variety of training activites for all disciplines.

Hugh Maguire & Scott Foster @ US Masters Track and Field Championships

Congratulations to our two masters athletes competing in the US Masters Track and Field Championships in Sacramento CA on the weekend.   Hugh McQuire placed 2nd and  set a new Canadian M45 record in the TJ of 12.70m (previous record held by Dennis McWhinney 12.32m set in 2009).  Scott Foster placed 4th in both the M40 TJ in 11.13m and the LJ 5.90m.
 
Sacramento is the site of next summers 2011 World Masters Championships, an event that will attract over 6 000 masters competitors (ages 35 &up) from around the world.
