BC Athletics Awards for Junior Development Athletes

At the end of each track and field season, BC Athletics honours JD athletes with outstanding competitive performances with the BCA JD Crest Award and/or the BCA JD Provincial Award. 

BCA Provincial Award

Ocean Athletics JD athletes who qualify for the BCA JD Provincial Award will automatically be nominated by Maureen de St. Croix.  The BCA JD Awards Committee will select the winning athletes and will notify both the athlete and the athlete’s club directly by early October.

Any parent who feels their athlete qualifies for a BCA Provincial Award may wish to contact Maureen directly to confirm the nomination.  The deadline for the Club’s submissions is September 1.

Award winners will receive their award at a BC Athletics awards banquet in October.

BCA Crest Award

Ocean Athletics will nominate JD athletes who qualify for the BCA JD Crest Award (hyperlink to:  http://www.bcathletics.org/main/jdman/jdcreststandards10.pdf); however, it is the responsibility of each athlete to keep and submit their season personal best results for each event entered to the club’s volunteer awards coordinator in order to be considered for a BCA JD Crest.  
 
Athletes can obtain their event results by checking the posted results either on the host club’s website, Ocean Athletics Results page or the BCA website (hyperlink to:  http://www.bcathletics.org/main/results_index.htm#T&F). You can record your personal best results using the Track Meet Personal Bests record keeping form,  The spreadsheet provides an example, in red, of how to record the best results from the entire track and field season.  Only the single best result for each event should be recorded.

Following the JD Provincial Championships Track and Field meet (the last meet of the season) email a copy of your personal best results to helensamson@shaw.ca for submission to BC Athletics.  The submission deadline is August 10.

Award winners will receive their crests at the Ocean Athletics Awards Ceremony/AGM in the fall.
